Swimming Around Downtown in Davao
The most visited downtown in Davao is well-known to Davaoenos. This is one of the famous places in Davao. It is where the city hall, the cathedral, and the wholesale department stores located. They can ease legal matters to your shopping adventure.
I grew up knowing this famous landmark in Davao. My mom brought me here every time we used to look for school supplies before the school year opens. We bought school supplies, school uniforms, shoes, and clothes. I remember there was even a time that our items were given to others in the baggage counter. The guard got confused because a lot of people were there to shop. Eventually, it was fixed anyway.
That experience never gave us a bad impression of the place. It was just an isolated case anyway. But the good thing is, the things we were looking for was just on one street. At least we had saved money from commuting one place to another.
What will you see?
If you really are looking for places to visit, try this. Imagine a place where you can visit the old church, the city hall of Davao and a street full of shopping centers. I remember when I was in college when I used to go here and look for internet cafe’s that offer affordable rates. The rates range from Php5 at night and Php10 at day.
I also used to do the shopping here. They sell wholesale items when you buy 2 pieces or more. Because of that, you can have big discounts if you plan to buy more than one. The most well-known commercial shopping centers are:
- 3F (Family and Friends)
There are also a lot of establishments here that sells second-hand items or the known ‘ukay-ukay’. These items came from Korea, Japan, and the US. Items sold here are clothes, bags, and shoes. And the prices start from Php5 to a hundred pesos.
I visited one ‘ukay-ukay’ place near PRTC along San Pedro Street as well. The smell was quite strong maybe because of the old clothes. I guess when you plan to visit here, wear a face mask for protection. It is a second-hand Korean store where they sell clothes, bags, underwear, belts and more. There are a lot of beautiful clothes we saw with lower prices starting from Php15 – Php150. Maybe they will give you discounts when you buy more items.
